Georgia is a country where every corner seems designed for romance. Mountain peaks disappearing into clouds, ancient fortresses, sea coasts, vineyard valleys — here you can find the perfect backdrop for any style of wedding. We have put together a detailed guide to the ten best locations where your ceremony will become truly unforgettable.
1. Gergeti — A Church Above the Clouds (Kazbegi)
The Gergeti Trinity Church at an altitude of 2,170 meters (7,120 ft) is the most dramatic wedding location in all of Georgia. This 14th-century church stands against the backdrop of majestic Mount Kazbek (5,054 m / 16,580 ft). The best time for a photo session is early morning, from 7 to 10 AM, when the clouds still lie below the church and the light is soft and golden. Best months: May through October.

2. Old Tbilisi — Timeless Atmosphere
Narrow cobblestone streets, ornate wooden balconies, courtyards draped in grapevines — Old Tbilisi creates the feeling that time has stopped here. The Abanotubani sulfur baths district, Narikala Fortress, and the colorful facades of houses perched on the cliff all create a unique texture for wedding photography. For the best shots, arrive early in the morning before the streets fill with tourists.
3. Bridge of Peace — Tbilisi's Modern Icon
This glass pedestrian bridge over the Kura River, designed by an Italian architect, is a futuristic structure that looks particularly spectacular in the evening with its dynamic LED lighting. The best time is "blue hour," 20-30 minutes before sunset. The bridge connects the Old Town with Rike Park, allowing you to combine two locations in one session.
4. Sighnaghi — The City of Love with a 24/7 Registry
Sighnaghi is a small hilltop town overlooking the Alazani Valley, officially known as the "City of Love." The House of Justice here operates around the clock — you can register your marriage at sunrise or midnight. The best time to photograph is at sunset, when the valley is painted in golden tones. The drive from Tbilisi takes about two hours.

5. Mtskheta and Jvari Monastery — The Cradle of Christianity
Mtskheta is the ancient capital of Georgia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Jvari Monastery (6th century) stands on a hilltop at the confluence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers — a site immortalized in Georgian literature and beloved by poets for centuries. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is one of the most sacred churches of the Georgian Orthodox Church. Mtskheta is just 20 minutes from Tbilisi.
6. Batumi Waterfront — A Wedding by the Black Sea
Seven kilometers of seaside boulevard lined with palm trees, modern sculptures, and striking architecture. The crown jewel for wedding photos is the "Ali and Nino" sculpture — two moving figures that merge together every evening, a worldwide symbol of love. The ideal time is sunset, when the sun drops directly into the sea. Season: June through September.
7. Batumi Botanical Garden — A Tropical Paradise
111 hectares (274 acres) of subtropical greenery on a hillside overlooking the sea. Bamboo groves, a Japanese garden, eucalyptus-lined paths — each zone creates a completely different mood. From the upper terraces, you get a panoramic view of the Black Sea. The best spots are the bamboo alley and the rose garden (May-June).
8. Kakheti Vineyards — A Wedding Among the Vines
Kakheti is Georgia's premier wine region with an 8,000-year winemaking history — the oldest in the world. Rows of grapevines, traditional marani (wine cellars), clay qvevri vessels — every detail here is steeped in tradition. The most photogenic period is September and October, when the vineyards turn gold and crimson during the rtveli harvest.
9. Ananuri Fortress — Medieval Romance
This 16th-17th century fortress sits on the shore of the Zhinvali Reservoir along the road from Tbilisi to Kazbegi. Massive stone walls, towers, two churches, and turquoise water — a location for couples who appreciate history and grandeur. The best time is midday, when the reservoir water turns its most vivid shade of turquoise.

10. Rabati Fortress — An Eastern Fairytale in Akhaltsikhe
A unique complex where Georgian, Turkish, and Persian architecture blend together. White minarets, stone walls, blooming gardens, and fountains. One of Georgia's most underrated wedding locations. Best photographed an hour before sunset. Akhaltsikhe is a three-hour drive from Tbilisi.

Practical Tips for Each Location
Gergeti (Kazbegi): What You Need to Know
The road to the church is unpaved and steep — you need a 4x4 vehicle or about a 40-minute uphill walk. The bride should bring comfortable shoes for the ascent. Weather at 2,170 m (7,120 ft) is unpredictable even in summer — pack a warm shawl. Best time: 7:00-10:00 AM, when clouds sit below the church. Restaurant recommendation: Rooms Hotel Kazbegi with its panoramic terrace.
Old Tbilisi: Recommendations
Arrive between 7:00 and 9:00 AM when the streets are empty. Flat-soled shoes are essential — cobblestone streets are uneven. Best spots: Shardeni Street, Abanotubani, the cable car to Narikala. Dinner recommendation: Barbarestan (inventive Georgian cuisine) or Shavi Lomi.
Sighnaghi: Planning Your Visit
The drive from Tbilisi takes 1.5-2 hours. Plan to arrive by 4:00-5:00 PM for the "golden hour" before sunset. The town is compact — you can walk all the best spots within an hour. For celebrations: Pheasant's Tears restaurant with natural wine and Kakhetian cuisine.
Batumi: A Seaside Wedding
The waterfront is flat and smooth — perfect for any footwear. The "Ali and Nino" sculpture is most spectacular at sunset. The Botanical Garden is 9 km from the center, tickets cost 15 GEL — choose the lower terraces and bamboo alley. Dinner recommendation: Porto Franco on the waterfront.
Kakheti: The Vineyards
Best time is early morning or the hour before sunset. In September-October, the grape harvest is underway and can be incorporated into your photo session. Wear comfortable shoes (the ground between the vines is uneven), and choose light, flowing fabrics. Dinner recommendation: Chateau Mere winery with a tasting of 8 wines.
Combined Routes: Multiple Locations in One Day
Georgia is compact, and many locations can be combined into a single day. We regularly organize routes covering 2-3 locations.
Route 1: Tbilisi + Mtskheta (Half Day)
Morning registration in Tbilisi. Photo session in the Old Town (1.5 hours). After lunch, head to Mtskheta (20 minutes): Jvari at sunset, Svetitskhoveli during "golden hour." The most convenient route.
Route 2: Tbilisi + Sighnaghi (Full Day)
Early registration in Tbilisi, city photo shoot. By lunchtime, head to Kakheti: stop at a winery en route. By evening, arrive in Sighnaghi for a sunset photo session on the fortress wall. Romantic dinner with a view of the valley.
Route 3: Kazbegi + Ananuri (Full Day)
Early morning departure along the Georgian Military Highway. First stop: Ananuri Fortress. Then ascend to Gergeti. Lunch in Stepantsminda. Return via the Zhinvali Reservoir. The round trip takes 5-6 hours — plan for a full day.
