Documents
What you need to register
Georgia is renowned for its simple marriage registration procedures. No certificates of marital status, no medical examinations, and no lengthy waiting periods are required. Below is the complete list of documents for each situation.
First Marriage
If both spouses are marrying for the first time, all you need are valid passports. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months from the date of registration. We recommend sending copies of your passports in advance so we can verify everything and prepare the paperwork.
Second Marriage (after divorce)
In addition to your passport, you will need the original divorce certificate from your previous marriage. The document must be translated into Georgian and notarized. If the divorce was finalized through a court, a copy of the court decision with a notation that it has entered into force is required. We arrange the translation and notarization in Georgia within 1 business day.
Widow / Widower
You will need your passport and the original death certificate of your former spouse, with a notarized translation into Georgian. As with divorce documents, we handle the translation and notarization on site.
