Wedding in Kakheti
Kakheti is the cradle of world winemaking and Georgia's most romantic region, where a wedding becomes a celebration of life, love, and abundance. Here in the Alazani Valley, grapes have been cultivated for over 8,000 years — the oldest winemaking tradition on the planet.
A wedding among endless vineyards, against the backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains, is a sight that takes your breath away. Kakheti offers truly unique venues: historic estates with centuries-old cellars where wine ages in qvevri — clay vessels buried in the ground. This ancient method is inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage list.
You can hold your ceremony on a vineyard terrace, host a banquet with tastings of rare varietals — Saperavi, Mukuzani, Kindzmarauli — right where they are born. The Alazani Valley, flanked by mountains on both sides, creates landscapes that rival Tuscany yet preserve the wild beauty of the Caucasus.
The best time is May through November, with September and October being rtveli season — the grape harvest — when the entire region fills with the aroma of ripe berries. Kakheti is roughly an hour and a half from Tbilisi.
